Yoga, Pilates &, Mindfulness
This cohort we will embark on a journey of self-discovery. We can expect to enhance our: Flexibility, strength (particularly core muscles), mental functioning, and body-awareness. We will sample a variety of Yoga and Pilates classes followed by opportunities for reflection and mindfulness.
We will learn from expert teachers in the field, create reflective journals that capture our progress throughout the journey.
Our final pursuit will be a Yoga/Pilates/Mindfulness retreat!
Each expedition day is a combination of meditation, personal yoga practice, learning a new form of yoga or meditation followed by personal reflection time. These are calming yet challenging days that allow the students to enhance their Flexibility, strength (particularly core muscles), mental functioning, and body-awareness
With 5 full expedition days of yoga and mindfulness practice complete, the cohort will receive their level 1 Yoga training certification during their June pursuit week. This this is the first step towards the Intro level courses that would set them on a path to teach yoga, should they choose to. They will also head out of town for a yoga and meditation retreat.
Amanda Rosts, Senior School Learning Resource teacher and houseparent, has practiced and taught Yoga for many year. She now also teaches the Yoga 12 class at the senior school. Daniel Baer works in the Senior School personal counselling department and has a passion for mindfulness and meditation.
